Chalkhill Community Centre Limited grew out of proactive community groups and core resident groups, which were engaged in the regeneration of the estate. Our aim is to improve the life chances of members of the local community by creating a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable community based organisation, run by and for the residents of Chalkhill.
The Centre enables local residents to meet and work together and with the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, recreation and leisure time activities.
Our aim is to provide a range of events and activities for young and old. We organise fabulous yearly events; our Easter Egg Hunt (April) and our Open Day (August) have been a great success.
Our regular activities include: fitness for over 50s, social group for senior citizens, mother and toddler play group, youth groups, salsa, women's only fitness, and art classes for kids.
In addition to a number of lovely volunteers and our board of trustees, the Chalkhill team looks a little something like this:
Most of you are already acquainted with Gloria, as she has been with Chalkhill since the dawning of time and is the Community Centre’s equivalent of the Godfather. She can be found in the office on Mondays and Thursdays.
What would we do without him? This is the man who makes sure the rooms are set up and everything is working as it should be.
